Below is a selection of useful software that you can download for FREE!

Please read the relevant site documentation first and check that everything is compatible with your operating system. I've tried everything listed and had no problems so far. I'm using Windows Vista.

FREE Word processing - free office suite.
OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute. I've found it very user friendly. If you've recently bought into Vista you'll probably find that it only comes with 'Works', which won't open Word docs. Open Office does the job and more.

FREE Writing and Media Production Tools.
Celtx has all the tools you need to write, organize and collaborate in one modern, Internet friendly, free software application. It's the most complete media pre-production software program available anywhere, at any cost.
Celtx is the world's first fully integrated solution for media pre-production and collaboration. It replaces old fashioned 'paper, pen & binder' media creation with a digital approach to writing and organizing that's more complete, simpler to work with, and easier to share.

FREE Audio Editing Software
Audacity - The Free, Cross-Platform Sound Editor. Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. It's a no-nonsense, easy-to-use sound editor with an amazing array of effects. You can also import and export WAV and AIFF files, convert them to the other, and encode in mp3 and Ogg Vorb.

FREE Big File Transfers.
I recently had the pleasure of trying to send a couple of large audio files by email. A lifetime later I gave up as I watched the green bar creep across the screen at 0.000001 miles per hour!
Thankfully, I'd seen an article somewhere that mentioned www.mailbigfile.com. It's free to use if you only want to send single or zipped files up to 100MB - and no need to register!

Kirsty's Story

Allow me to tell you briefly about a remarkable young woman. Kirsty is a typical teenager. Her pastimes include drama, football, computers, PS2 and going to the movies. She has another passion and that is fundraising for Children's Charities, such as the Wish Team and Wish Upon A Star. She does all this despite suffering from Neurofibromatosis (NF1) and resulting curvature of the spine (scoliosis).

She has kept an entertaining and moving diary of her experiences since 1999, when she was just 9 years-old. There's so much to say about her determination and enthusiasm but I'll let her tell you all about that. After all, it's Kirsty's Story.
